Provincial Grand Lodge and Chapter Convocations

12th May 2018  York Race Course.

Festival Cheque

The Provincial meetings for Craft and Royal Arch Chapter took place, this year, at a new venue, York Racecourse.
The weather was brilliant, the sun was shining and the Brethren and Companions gathered in vast numbers.
This may have been as a result of the attandance, of our special guest on the day, Sir David Wootton, who had come to support his own County of Yorkshire.

The morning convocation was for our Royal Arch Chapter Companions who were receiving their honours.
The support for them seemed to be up on last year and a colourful spectacle it was too.

A hearty lunch was provided by the Racecourse, with just the right amount of liquid refreshment.
The Brethren then dressed in their finery and assembled to see their colleagues receive their own honours.

The upstairs balconies were full and there appeared to be very little room left to get a vantage point.

Our Provincial Grand Master, RW Jeffrey Gillyon and the Assistant Grand Master RW Sir David Wootton addressed the gathered masons, and announced that we had exceeded our Festival 2018 target of £1.6M with a staggering £1,881,413.

At the end of the proceedings, the splendid and colourful exit procession, rounded off another Yorkshire N&E Ridings wonderfully sepcial day.
